Happy National Green Juice Day!
It’s one of our favorite days of the year (never mind that we didn’t know it existed until today 😉 )…
Happy National Green Juice Day!!
Green juices are a terrific way to detox along with being able to check off your 7 to 10 servings of fruits and veggies (because really… what mom has the time to actually EAT that every day?? And if you do, we want to know how you do it!).
Our very own Dr. Blaire developed this juice recipe so you can drink down your veggies while chasing the kids or toting them to school or just lounging by yourself on the couch while reading a novel (HA! Kidding!). Regardless of where your day takes you, this smoothie will fuel you all the way through.
All of the ingredients are nutritional powerhouses, but the cilantro, apple, cucumber and ginger are especially fantastic for detoxification. The chia seeds provide a natural energy boost, and the date and/or pineapple gives it just the right amount of sweetness.
And P.S., I thought for sure my 16-month-old was going to turn away from this… but after one sip, he kept asking for more! I had to make another one so I could have my own (and also have a picture for the blog 😉 ). Another sneaky green win!
Dr. Blaire’s Ultimate Green Juice:
Ingredients (makes 1 smoothie… double if you’re giving your kid a taste, which we hope you will! 😉 ):
- Half of a green apple (unpeeled)
- 1 date (pitted) OR a pineapple slice for natural sweetness
- 1/3 of a medium cucumber (unpeeled)
- 1 tbsp. chia seeds
- 1 c. of kale
- 1/4 c. cilantro
- 1 c. water
- 1-inch slice of ginger
Directions:
Place all ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth. Top with chia seeds or garnish with an apple slice.
Have a fantastic day, mamas. And cheers to your good health!
XO,
– P & B
