The Clean, Green Shamrock Shake
Did you know a McDonald’s Shamrock Shake contains 54 ingredients… including dyes, preservatives, high fructose corn syrup and 65 GRAMS OF SUGAR?
The last part alone is pretty staggering… that’s the equivalent of measuring out a third of a cup of sugar and tossing it into your breakfast smoothie. If you can’t imagine doing that– especially for your kids– then make a healthier, no-refined-sugar alternative at home.
This “Clean ‘n Green” Shamrock Shake only uses spinach as its “dye” and one Medjool date as its sugar. Plus, it contains ultra-pure plant protein to keep you well-fueled and your blood sugar well-balanced all morning long.
Ingredients (makes one 8 oz. shake):
- 1 cup of almond or coconut milk
- 2 scoops of Shaklee’s ‘Plain & Simple’ or Vanilla LIFE protein
- 1/8 tsp. of organic peppermint extract (Note: Not peppermint oil)
- 1 tbsp. of unsweetened almond butter
- 1/2 cup of spinach
- 1 pitted Medjool date
- Half an avocado
Directions:
Blend all ingredients together. For a festive touch, top with unsweetened whipped cream or some mint leaves.
