The Chocolate Cherry Shake
Cherry season is one of my favorites… probably because summer in Traverse City, Mich., which is known as the cherry capital of the world, is one of my all-time favorite places to visit. This time of year, everything there is cherry-themed… cherry burgers, cherry hot dogs, cherry ice cream, cherry wine.
Inspired by cherry season (as well as my perpetual love and cravings for chocolate), I bring you the Chocolate Cherry Shake- a healthy dessert for breakfast kind of shake.
Of course, there’s no need to reserve this recipe just for cherry season. Frozen cherries would work just as well (and the fact they’re already pitted kind of makes them a no-brainer when you’re short on time or don’t want to dye your fingertips blood red 😉 ).
The Chocolate Cherry Shake
Ingredients (makes one serving):
- 1 cup almond milk
-
1-2 scoops of Shaklee’s Life Protein— either the “Pure ‘n Simple” (to make it Paleo friendly) or the vanilla or chocolate protein
-
1 tbsp. of unsweetened cacao (if using the non-chocolate protein)
-
1 cup of pitted cherries
- 1 pitted date (optional)
-
Handful of ice cubes
Just blend until smooth and then top with a cherry!
