How My Morning Routine Has Transformed my Momlife
It’s 6:55 a.m. I’ve gotten in some yoga, read Scripture, finished this blog post and am about to squeeze in a shower while the coffee brews.
I feel like I’ve accomplished more in an hour than I do in a day. Then again, I probably have.
I don’t say this to make myself sound like I’ve got it all together. In fact, let me paint a picture of what mornings used to look like a couple of months ago…
I was constantly frazzled and felt immediately behind as I awoke to my kids yelling for me. I rarely found time to shower; my lower back would throb throughout the day since I never got around to my yoga mat; and my mood showed it…
Especially in this time of quarantine, with no-end-in-sight tasks/chores/childcare, the early morning is the only time I get to myself. Mornings have become sacred.
It’s important to note that I was NOT “a morning person” before. I was a proud night owl. But since realizing that being a morning person is a learned habit NOT an intrinsic trait, I doubt I’ll ever go back.
There’s something about mornings that are magical. If you can beat the snooze button (and truly, that’s the main challenge), your days will be transformed.
I’m a better mom since this morning makeover. I’m happier, more present and more energized when I fit in activities that fill my cup. And, unsurprisingly, my family starts the day happier, too.
